Our story
In 1992, Professor Roberto Godoi transformed a space at the back of his mother’s house in São Paulo, Brazil into his first Jiu-Jitsu studio. With only a purple belt around his waist, he embarked on a journey that would significantly shape the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu landscape. Through the years, Godoi and a dedicated group of professors who competed under his name – Charles “Duende”, Uelber “Guri”, Julio Pinheiro “Julião”, and Celso Brito – founded G13 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2013.
Believing in the timeless power of solid foundations, G13BJJ has evolved into a world-class Jiu-Jitsu institution. We are not just a school or a teaching methodology; we are a growing family. Our teachers, mostly former students, have chosen to spread our vision, mission, and lifestyle by opening their own G13BJJ schools. Together, we have grown into a community of over 10,000 students, with 100 units in 5 countries, offering a world-class experience for anyone eager to learn Jiu-Jitsu, regardless of age or skill level.

Our Values
The Master
Roberto Godoi
Roberto Godoi, a 6th-degree black belt and a legend in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, was born on July 3rd, 1974, in São Paulo, Brazil. Starting his Jiu-Jitsu journey in 1988 and earning his Black Belt in 1996, Godoi has accumulated 33 years of unparalleled knowledge and experience in training, teaching, and competing.
Known for his precise and competitive Jiu-Jitsu style, which earned him the nickname “Jason” (from Friday 13th), Godoi has won numerous championships, including the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, the Pan American Championship, and the Brazilian National Championship.
As a respected coach, Godoi has nurtured many successful students, including those who have become world champions themselves. He is the founder of the G13 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association, with academies around the globe. His impressive career includes:
